TRACY TAYLOR: ISLAND GOLD

"See you in the ring..."

Since the night of November the 15th, the PGWA office has been deluged with Emails from fans across America and around the world, virtually all of them asking... pleading... the same thing: Tell us more about Tracy Taylor!

And who better to tell us about the new PGWA Champion than Ms. Taylor herself?

THE STATS:
Height: 5'6"
Weight: Let's just say commensurate with my height...
Hair: Brown and Blond
Hometown: Kaneohe, Hawaii

LADYSPORTS: Tracy, welcome to LadySports Online! When did you first get into the sport of wrestling?
TRACY TAYLOR: The sport was first blessed with my presence in 2002.

LS: And who trained you?
TT: Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore, Bill "Hugh Morris" Demott, and Dave Taylor of WWE Smackdown.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
TT: I would have to say watching Victoria, Molly Holly, Trish and Lita.

LS: Growing up, what was the women’s wrestling scene like in Hawaii?
TT: Non-existent... until I came along, that is.

LS: What other sports and forms of fighting do you have an interest in?
TT: I like to surf, play tennis, and bowl. I would love to do stunt work.

LS: Can you tell us a bit about your competitive fitness work?
TT: I initially entered into two different competitions, one being an all-natural competition which had three different categories, Fitness Model (where I placed First), Bikini Diva (also placed First), and Figure (placed Third). One week later I entered an NPC Figure competition, where I placed Third also.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality and strengths?
TT: My attitude is pretty positive and mellow for the most part. People find it hard to read me a lot of the time. My personality takes some time to come out, especially if I don't know you. But if you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you I am one crazy and funny person to be around once I let loose. My strengths would be any profession I have ever been in, meaning that if I entered a certain profession for a certain amount of time I probably took it really seriously, and tried to be the best at what ever it was I was doing at the time. That includes esthetician, make-up artist, fitness instructor, and of course, wrestler.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
TT: A typical day of training would be going to the gym and doing thirty minutes to an hour of cardio, lifting weights, and watching what I eat. The most important part of my workout would be my cardio.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
TT: Mat-style wrestling.

LS: Did you base your ring style or even your persona on any one particular wrestler?
TT: Not really, I try to be different. But if I had to pick one person, I would have to say Mike Taylor.

LS: What specific signature moves are you best known for?
TT: My 'Lei Out', which is my finisher... a leg clothesline.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
TT: Yes.

LS: Since you've begun have you ever had a "Why am I still doing this" moment?
TT: I think we all ask ourselves that question at one point and time, but when you’re in the ring and feeling the emotion and energy of the crowd, that question answers itself.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
TT: My toughest opponent would have to have been Hikaru from Japan... she's one tough cookie!

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
TT: My most memorable win would have to be the Three-Way against Hikaru and Malia Hosaka for the EWA Women’s Championship on the day before my birthday, September 15th. This championship took me on my first tour to Japan.

LS: What was your worst loss?
TT: Losing the EWA title to Fuuka in Japan.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring but haven't yet?
TT: Victoria.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
TT: One that is so close that it catches you off guard.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
TT: "Oh, WOW! Really... you??"

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
TT: That it's so unpredictable, not knowing where it's going to take me. One day I'm home, the next I'm on a plane to another country... it's just unreal!

LS: What are your fans like?
TT: My fans are awesome, so loyal and behind me 100%! My fans range from young girls and boys to teenagers to moms and dads and grandmothers and papa's.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
TT: If I had the power to improve the sport, I would make sure everyone was properly trained before getting into the ring.

LS: Where have you wrestled and what titles if any have you held?
TT: I have wrestled in numerous places in the U.S., Hawaii being a part of that, and different cities in Japan. So far I have held the EWA Women’s Title and now the PGWA Women’s Title... WOO HOOOOO!

LS: What do you say to those who don't feel there's a place for women in the sport other than as a novelty?
TT: I say, see you in the ring....

LS: If you could have only one more final match, who would you most want to have as your opponent and why?
TT: Oh, Molly Holly, because she was fun to watch and she was a great worker. I would want to see If I could learn from her and hang with her in the ring.

LS: Any regrets?
TT: Not starting sooner.

LS: What do you suppose you would be doing if you couldn't be in wrestling?
TT: I would either be working at MAC Cosmetics, a Day Spa or a gym.

LS: Since it’s sort of the 'family business’, would you ever recommend a career in wrestling to your children when they’re old enough?
TT: I wouldn't recommend it, but if it was something they wanted to do, I would certainly prepare them for the struggle and try to help them out as much as I could.

LS: What is your personal motto?
TT: Go hard or go home.

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
TT: If I had no bills and could make life easier on my children.

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
TT: Wrestling is not just something you do, it's a lifestyle... and only those who are in it understand.

LS: Tracy, thanks for making the time to speak with us, and congratulations on becoming the new PGWA Champion!
TT: Thank you.
