THE WOMEN WHO WOULD BE QUEEN

By Shiai Mata

In advance of this weekend's Queen's Cup Tournament, presented by WORLD-1 WRESTLING and the PGWA, several of the participants have taken the time to share some quick thoughts on the upcoming tourney.

As announced, the bracket is as follows:

  • Match 1: Cindy Rogers vs Alere Little Feather
  • Match 2: Amber O'Neal vs Allison Danger
  • Match 3: Nikki Roxx vs Sara Del Rey
  • Match 4: Cheerleader Melissa vs Melissa Stripes

The winner of the one day tournament will travel to Japan in March to face Amazing Kong for the Pro-Wrestling SUN organization, with the W1W Women's belt on the line. Suffice to say, winning this tourney would be a tremendous victory for any of these wrestlers, and the opportunity to wrestle in Japan against Amazing Kong would be a feather in anyone's cap.

LadySports Online was able to get in contact with several of the competitors, and we asked them for their thoughts on this weekend's event.

"Each of us wants to win this tournament," says Alere Little Feather. "With the women involved, it's not going to be an easy fight for anyone. My main goal is to fight regularly in Japan and this is my chance to prove myself. Winning this tournament will guarantee me a chance to fight in Japan , then it's up to me prove myself there."

"But first things first! I need to survive this tournament. First round, I am facing Cindy Rogers. Cindy and I are no strangers to one another. So it's going to be a tough fight as we know each other so well. But no matter what, I am going into this tournament and going to do my best. I've surprised many in the past by defeating some of the best. Hopefully, my victory won't be so much of a shock this time."

"My prediction? Of course, I see myself victorious!"

The Native American grappler certainly can't be said to be lacking confidence going into this. But she knows full well the odds she'll be facing…as does her First Round opponent:

"This tournament is going to be a tough one," Cindy Rogers says without any understatement. "The line-up is full of some of the top and toughest female wrestlers out there today. In the first round I have Alere Little Feather. Alere and I are not strangers to each other so that can be good and bad, because we do know each other well."

"I've had a chance to study the other competitors from working SHIMMER with them, so I'm fully prepared for this tournament."

Without a doubt, both Cindy and Alere will be stepping into the ring together determined to win. Unfortunately, only one will emerge with the victory.

And a woman who fully intends to claim the ultimate victory…and for whom winning is a true habit…we now hear from Sara del Rey: "Regarding The WORLD-1 tournament, I am just extremely excited to be involved. The roster is a bit intimidating with some of the best girls around fighting for a chance to go to Japan ."

"I am just looking to wrestle hard and hopefully prove I deserve a shot at the title!"

Don't let her sincere humility fool you…Sara is an exceptionally accomplished grappler, and it would not surprise many to see her go all the way in this.

And lastly, we got in touch with none other than the PGWA Champion herself, Nikki Roxx, and asked her for her thoughts. However, we were told through a third party that Nikki is too focused on her training in preparation for the tournament to respond, other than to say that she will do all of her statement-making in the ring this Sunday.

LadySports Online would like to wish all eight competitors the best of luck this weekend!
