LADYSPORTS SPOTLIGHT: Onyx

As relatively short-lived as the "Women of Wrestling" league was, the weekly show, 
broadcast nationwide, highlighted several truly skilled young ladies.  

Chief among them was the cowgirl known as Bronco Billie.  With the end of WOW, 
Billie stayed in wrestling, except now she is better known under the name of "Onyx".  
And like that namesake mineral, she is tough, beautiful and highly coveted!

 

In addition to wrestling, she has also acted on stage, in such films as 
"Minority Report" and "Austin Powers in Goldmember", and on television in, 
among other series, "That ‘70’s Show", "The Shield" and "The Practice".  
And, it should come as no surprise to anyone, she has been a beauty pageant 
winner as well!

LADYSPORTS: Welcome to LadySports, Onyx! When did you first get into the sport?
ONYX: In LA 14 years ago.

LS: And who trained you?
O: WOW, UPW.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
O: The Rock, being fit and strong, and a big mouth.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
O: MMA grappling, most outdoor sports, biking, hiking, ball...I just love being active.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
O: Being strong, determined, fit, healthy and positive.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
O: Full body circuit... cardio, stretching to stay flexible and fit.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style? O Fun, high-energy…and bad ass!

LS: What moves are you best known for?
O: Chokes and slams.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
O: Of course... just sprains, nothing broken... thank God.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
O: Raquel. Joking! [Laughter]

LS: And who are your allies?
O: Wonder Woman. [Laughter]

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
O: Winning most of my matches, but the most memorable was beating a 250 pound man.

LS: What was your worst loss?
O: As Bronco Billie losing to Riot with her powerbomb, ‘cause she was so tall and skinny.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
O: The Rock!

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
O: Winning and kickin’ butt!

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
O: The fans.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
O: Having access to more baby cribs... I mean, pro rings. [Laughter]

LS: Where have you wrestled?
O: I’ve worked all across the continental U.S., and in Hawaii.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
O: Mud wrestling in Hawaii for History Channel’s "Modern Marvels" series.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
O: Continue my acting and theatrical dancing career.

LS: If you were only able to wrestle one more match in your career, who would you most like to face?
O: Chyna.

LS: What is your personal motto?
O: If it ain’t broke, don’t buy a new one.

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
O: A Caribbean home.
