Q & A: JENNIFER STARR

A BUNDLE OF DYNAMITE!

An exciting newcomer in Midwestern rings is Southern Illinois native Jennifer Starr. Nicknamed “Dynamite,” the 19 year old packs a lot of explosive power in her 5’0”, 130 pound body! LadySports Online is proud to introduce Jennifer to wrestling fans worldwide in this exclusive new interview.

LADYSPORTS: Jennifer, when did you first get into the sport?
JENNIFER STARR: October of 2005

LS: Who trained you?
JS: A lot of people played a big part in my training with MMWA-SICW, but Jeremy Lightfoot is who got me started in this business, and he has taught me so much!

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
JS: I have watched wrestling my entire life, and I have always been a fan of the luchadors! I decided I wanted to be a wrestler right around the time Lita debuted in the WWF. She showed that women could get in the ring and do crazy high flying moves just like the guys. She really influenced me to be sort of fearless and show what I can do!

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
JS: I have always really liked soccer.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
JS: Attitude: Positive!
Personality: I love to have fun!
Likes: Wrestling.
Dislikes: Mean people.
Strengths: I’m very motivated!

LS: What is your most marked characteristic?
JS: Probably my size, and my style of wrestling.

LS: What are you favorite foods, music, clothes, cars?
JS: Food: Italian
Music: I like all types of music! My favorites at the moment are Pink Floyd, Fozzy, and Brand New
Clothes: I wear what I like...I don’t care where it's from.
Cars: I drive a 91 Ford Mustang. But one day I hope to get a 1970 Chevelle SS, candy apple red!!!!!!

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout? JS: A lot of the time it's me and one or two other girls and we learn with all the guys. I always make sure I get a chance to lift weights before I finish my training.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
JS: High flying.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
JS: Hurricanranna, Swinging Headscissors, Tornado DDT (“The Falling Starr”), X-Factor, and the 619.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
JS: I have had a lot of bumps and bruises, but so far I have been fortunate enough not to be seriously injured.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
JS: I would say Brian Scrilla. It is definitely a different experience taking on a guy!

LS: Who are your allies?
JS: Any of the faces! Right now I have partnered with The Chicano Fury Espy, and Johnny Courageous, so I would say that they are my allies.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
JS: When I won the MMWA-SICW Ladies title.

LS: What was your worst loss?
JS: When I lost the ladies title to Christie Summers.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven’t yet?
JS: On an indy fed level I would really like to get the chance to work with MsChif or Rebecca Raze.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
JS: I love fast paced matches!

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
JS: A lot of people give me that look of disbelief when I tell them that I am a professional wrestler, but at the same time a lot of people think it's cool, too!

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
JS: This is my entire life and I love it! Wrestling has been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old.

LS: What are your fans like?
JS: My fans are the coolest people! I get a lot of young girls that come up to me at shows. It's nice to know that I can be a positive role model for younger girls the way that Lita was for me while I was growing up.

LS: What is the one thing you would most like to change about the sport?
JS: The importance of fake T & A for lady wrestlers.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
JS: Give more opportunities to the talented lady wrestlers who are not just T & A.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
JS: I mostly wrestle in the St. Louis area right now, but am definitely willing to wrestle outside of St. Louis as well. So far in my first year I have been the MMWA-SICW Ladies Champion.

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
JS: I think that it is cool for women to wrestle!

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
JS: Winning my first title!

LS: Any regrets?
JS: I have no regrets! I’m doing what I love.

LS: What would you do if you couldn’t be in wrestling?
JS: Graphic design.

LS: What is your personal motto?
JS: Anything can happen, if you put your mind to it!

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
