Q & A: JANEY B

"Who's the kid?" That was the question heard more than a few times at Pippa L'Vinn's recent live event in Manchester, England. The 'kid' in question was a young lass named Janey B, and one can't fault those who first questioned her presence there; her seemingly young age and smaller build would not immediate suggest a professional wrestler.
However, much like Canada's Portia Perez, Janey B quickly proved that looks are deceiving, and by show's end, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that the kid most definitely deserved to be in the ring!
LadySports Online is proud to introduce this rising English star to fans worldwide!

THE STATS:

LADYSPORTS: Welcome to LadySports, Janey!
JANEY B: Thank you.

LS: When did you first become interested in pro wrestling?
JB: The first time I watched pro wrestling, I was only little! My dad had some WWE tapes. I remember SummerSlam 1992, which was filmed in Wembley Arena near where I grew up. I remember my mum being disappointed seeing her daughter shouting at the TV for one guy to beat up the other! Then I didn't really think about it anymore until I was a teen and I got hooked on WWE. I loved to watch the Hardy Boyz and Lita and other daredevils.

LS: Who have been your biggest ongoing inspirations to be a wrestler?
JB: I guess the original few I can't deny to be the Hardy Boyz and Lita. But in general Shawn Michaels, and more recently John Morrison. I like the more recent Divas too. I think Beth Phoenix, Mickie James and Melina are doing a great job.

LS: What is Janey B like in the ring, personality-wise?
JB: I am undoubtedly an underdog in most cases, but I have the heart of a lion. I give everything I have and never give up. I love wrestling, so I always go into it with passion.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
JB: I guess I have a fairly typical regime of strength, flexibility and cardio training. That's the boring part. But you have to keep it fun, too! I enjoy doing dance aerobics... which at the moment is a bit of salsa... swimming, and obviously various kinds of wrestling training, depending on what I think I need to work on for my next show.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
JB: Since I'm not the biggest wrestler, I have to rely on my speed and agility with a mix of a few fancy and highflying moves thrown in for good measure.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
JB: Flying Headscissors, Hurricanrana, Bulldog, and a modified DDT.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
JB: I would have to say taking on Pippa L'Vinn, Shelby Beach and Lisa Fury at Pippa L'Vinn's latest show ["Day of the Divas"]. They are all so tough with so much experience!

LS: And who have been your biggest allies?
JB: At the moment Team Blossom, who are over in America wrestling for OVW. They are great friends and such nice people.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
JB: Recently defeating Lisa Fury at Pippa L'Vinn's Wrestling Factory.

LS: What was your worst loss?
JB: Maybe losing to Lucy Clayden at IPW. I so nearly won, and it would have been such an achievement if I had.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
JB: MsChif or Daffney. I think wrestling either of those two would be challenging and entertaining.

LS: And if you had to retire tomorrow and could have only one more match, who would you most like to wrestle?
JB: Shawn Michaels... and he would whisper, "I'm sorry, I love you" before superkicking me in the face... done before?

LS: You've recently competed at Pippa L'Vinn's "Day of the Divas" event in Manchester. What can you share about your thoughts and impressions of the card?
JB: I like the way Pippa's shows are a combination of pro wrestling and mat-based wrestling. I think it creates a nice variety and allows for some interesting match-ups. There were quite a few ladies I had never met or seen wrestle before, and I have to say I'm very impressed.

LS: What is your favorite style of match?
JB: I'm always happy to do straightforward singles, but I guess I enjoy tag matches. It's always exciting to see what's going to happen when you throw two people together with very different styles, and it's always exciting to work with someone new.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
JB: It would be nice to improve the safety aspect. I'm thinking of better quality rings and equipment to ensure all performers are kept as safe as possible.

LS: Any regrets?
JB: That I didn't stretch before my last show... I'm still feeling it!

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
JB: I love animals... I think I would spend my life playing with my cats or going to farms and zoos!

LS: What is your personal motto?
JB: Be confident, be positive!

LS: Thanks for speaking with us, Janey. Anything else you'd like to add?
JB: Thanks for everyone who has taken the time to read this, and I hope people will continue to follow my adventure in the pro wrestling world through my MySpace pages: www.myspace.com/violet_uk and www.myspace.com/divajaneyb
