LadySports ::: Ann Brookstone

The Most Special Time

She first burst onto the scene several years back under the nom de plume of “Ann Thraxx”... although unlike the silent, microscopic bacterium, Ann is a towering engine of destruction who makes her presence immediately known. Now working as Ann Brookstone, she has continued her winning ways, and is scheduled to face some world class opponents in the months ahead. But rather than pausing at the challenge they pose, she can't wait to get into the ring with them!
Ann has taken the time to participate in this exclusive LadySports Online interview... .

Ring Name: Ann Brookstone

Height: 5'9

Weight: 135

Hair: Blonde

Hometown: Minneapolis, MN

LadySports: When did you first get into the sport?
Ann Brookstone: I entered a local "Tough Enough" contest in Minneapolis. I ended up being one of the finalists, continued my training, and the rest is history.

LS: Where did you train?
AB: I was trained at Midwest Pro Wrestling in Maple Grove, Minnesota by Dan "Shifty" Shaffner and Arik Cannon.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
AB: My trainers where my biggest influence to follow through with my training. Shifty was great. I never would have made it through it without him. Arik Cannon really set the tone for us to by what he achieved and was always very open to always helping us.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
AB: I like to just workout and lift some weights, but I LOVE, LOVE the Minnesota Twins!

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
AB: I'm very gung-ho and always working hard to find new opportunities. I'm a natural heel, I think. I'm very loud and obnoxious in the ring. I really like interacting with fans. The better they are, the better I am. I also think that is my strength. My only dislike in wrestling is the politics that come with it. It takes the fun out of it sometimes.

LS: What is your most marked characteristic?
AB: I think my interaction with the fans. It seems to be the thing people remember.

LS: What are you favorite foods, music, clothes, cars?
AB: My favorites as far as food include sushi and chipotle. Music-wise, I like pop-punk: Alkaline Trio, Less Than Jake, Rancid. Clothes... I generally stick with jeans and a t-shirt of some sort. I love me the thrift store. Cars? Anything that runs, haha.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
AB: I always start with cardio. It's really hard to do a match and yell as much as I do. so, I think it's really important. I treadmill for 30 minutes. Weights, I do abs everyday. Machine and variations on sit-ups. I also do glutes everyday too. Then I lift a different part of my body each time. After that, I swim laps, then it's sauna, and tanning, haha.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
AB: A lot of power moves. I also cheat a lot.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
AB: I do a Pendulum and while my opponent is in it, I walk them over to the ringpost and bash their head into it. Then I give them a Curbstomp. I also just started doing a Toprope Legdrop.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
AB: Yes. One time I was kicked right in the eye and got a concussion, and I also hurt my knee really badly another time... I'm lucky I didn't blow it out. It took six months to fully recover from that. It still hurts at times.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
AB: Mickie Knuckles and I always beat the crap out of each other. Daizee Haze, Lexie Fyfe, Josie, ODB.

LS: Who are your allies?
AB: I have none.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
AB: On a personal note it was a couple of years ago when I beat Josie to win the 3X Wrestling Women's Title in Des Moines. My brother passed away due to cancer the night before, and he had planned to come to the match.

LS: What was your worst loss?
AB: Losing that same title to Bryce Benjamin this year! Yes, a guy won the women's title!

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
AB: What a loaded question! I would say Sara del Rey and MsChif, but I'm getting the chance to face them both in May. So... Aja Kong, Cheerleader Melissa, and Mercedes Martinez.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
AB: I love matches that involve a lot of comedy. I also love brawling.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
AB: They always think I mean amateur wrestling, haha. Always disbelief, and then they think it's cool.

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
AB: I love getting to meet new people in the locker room and pushing myself to achieve different goals. The most special time is when you are truly able to get fans into your match, and they enjoy themselves.

LS: What are your fans like?
AB: They are great! They always seem to be the ones who yell at me the most in the ring.

LS: What is the one thing you would most like to change about the sport?
AB: The politics that go along with it. Pettiness, and when wrestlers cut each other down, or are just unprofessional.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
AB: Eliminate terrible shows. It's terrible when people come to a show for the first time, and they come to these shows. They then think all wrestling shows are like that, and are not willing to give it another chance.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
AB: I have wrestled in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, and West Virginia. I think I will be doing a lot more traveling this year though. I have been the women's champ in numerous promotions in North Dakota and in 3X Wrestling in Des Moines, Iowa.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
AB: A few of my matches my first year.

LS: Any regrets?
AB: I sometimes regret the family functions that I miss.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
AB: My life wouldn't change much, I'd just be home on the weekends, haha. Nah, it would be very, very boring. I don't know if I could do it.

LS: Do you have a personal motto?
AB: Just go out, wrestle, and have fun.

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
AB: To wrestle outside of the U.S.

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
AB: Look out for Ann Brookstone this year! Thanks for having me!
