Pippa L'Vinn's AUGUST ANGELS

August 19, 2006

by Mark Lockey

OPENING :

Live from Pippa L'Vinn's Wrestling Factory - "August Angels" was a spectacular and thoroughly entertaining event, featuring the best in Ladies Wrestling. Yet again, Pippa succeeded in producing another show of pure brilliance. As with her venue, each show seems to progress and improve. Pippa is, indeed, an angel outside of the ring but, don't let that pretty face mislead you..... when she steps through those ropes she transforms into a focussed, determined, wrestler, who has no equals, on either side of the Atlantic.

Pro - Style Wrestling :
Stephanie Scope v Roxi

A pro style match opened today's proceedings with newcomer to this venue, Stephanie Scope who literally towered over her opponent, Roxi. Stephanie soon let it be known that she was a rule breaker and applied a few dirty tricks into the mix. Roxi, as enthusiastic and spirited as ever countered with her own style which appeared to intimidate Steph into leaving the ring, risking a count out. Roxi rolled up her taller rival for a 2 count on more than one separate occasion. Stephanie brought this fast - flowing, initial, match to it's conclusion after pinning Roxi from after a high drop to the canvas. A great opening bout which ran it's full 15 minute duration. A triumphant effort by Roxi. Result : Winner - Stephanie Scope.

Competitive Mat- based :
Awesome Anne v Pippa L'Vinn

Anne was greeted with a warm reception from the audience, after her long injury. A severe test for her today though with her opponent, the one and only Pippa L 'Vinn. These two have fought before and it was clear from the outset that neither was going to back down. Anne's superior height and weight advantage may have seemed a deciding factor in the early stages of this bout with Pippa alarmingly crashing though the ropes onto her back. This looked really painful. The crowd went deathly silent. This incident certainly brought me to my feet, with concern. Fortunately, Pippa was OK and brushed it of with " I need a bigger ring ! ". Anne soon succeeded in gaining a submission from her determined rival. The match then really took off. Would Pippa be able to come back ? What followed had to be the most intense, and powerful display, ever seen in a mat based contest. Never before had I witnessed such robustness and determination, mainly coming from Pippa, straining every last ounce of strength to eventually force an equalising submission from Anne. An incredible match which finished in a 1-1 draw. Fantastic applause and appreciation was given for 2 wonderful athletes. Anne certainly showed no signs of "ring - rust" from her absence and Pippa's strength and determination not to be thwarted, was admirable. Superb stuff !! Result : 1 submission each - DRAW.

Pro-Style Wrestling :
Black Widow v Shelby Beach

A pro - style match with 5 rounds between Black Widow - emerging to a chorus of boos ! , against the ever popular blonde bombshell, Shelby. Shelby had her work cut out in this match. Widow applying a figure - four leglock early on to attempt to weaken her opponent. Shelby counteracted in her own unique style and a real battle between the two started to unfold. Widow's dirty tricks were apparent when she crashed her elbow into the left upper part of Shelby's anatomy !! Then shouted:" I'll get the right one next !". Widow forced a submission followed up by a second pin. A spirited display by Shelby who looked stunning in her one-piece outfit. She was unable, on this occasion, to overthrow the sometimes underhand tactics of Black Widow, who was a fantastic character. Result : Winner - Black Widow.

Pro - Style Wrestling :
Minx v Violet

Minx entered the ring and immediately started to wind up the crowd. London's Violet was making a welcome return to this venue since her last appearance at Bonfire Bonanza. The two young girls, evenly matched in weight and size locked up and produced some great moves. Violet, with a number of throws and some good reversals from the Sunderland girl, Minx. Minx soon received a public warning for some rule breaking. Violet, undeterred, came close with a 2 - count. A very fast bout from the two lively light-weight wrestlers resulted in a roll-up pin for Violet. Result: Winner - Violet.

Competitive Mat- based :
Wildkat v Charisma

The experienced Wildkat faced the young daughter of her friend, Awesome Anne - Charisma. This was an intriguing battle of wills.Charisma showing strength and agility, no doubt after such fine tuition in the past from her proud mum, Anne. Kat, with her wealth of experience in mat based contests was seeking to overthrow her young opponent. Some brilliant manoeuvres in this match, ended with a well-fought 2-2 draw. Charisma really shone in this one, a very impressive display Result : 2 submissions each - DRAW.

Pro-Style Wrestling :
Violet v Roxi

The 2 very popular and promising youngsters returned after the interval and produced a very skilful and evenly fought match with some spectacular holds and throws. One of the best matches of the day, thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd. Roxi gaining a pin over her younger opponent to claim the victory. Result : Winner - Roxi.

Competitive Mat-based :
Awesome Anne v Shelby Beach

Anne and Shelby returned to the ring in a mat based match. This contest really was a test of strength, stamina and endurance and both girls worked so hard to gain the upper hand against her opponent. Neither was prepared to give anything away. Their stubbornness and reluctance to allow each other to achieve a submission, was a joy to watch. Shelby produced 2 submissions to gain a victory over the hard working, tireless, Anne. Result: Winner - Shelby Beach.

Competitive Mat-based :
Charisma v Pippa L'Vinn

This match was going to be interesting to see how Charisma would fare against her more experienced opponent, Pippa. The two locked up and the contest looked even with each wrestler's holds being counteracted by the other. Sadly, Charisma jarred her ankle and the match was declared a no contest after only a couple of minutes. The injury was a complete accident and did not occur via a hold. This was such a shame for Charisma who had brought so much to the event, especially in her previous match. The good news is that there was no breakage or possible long term injury, just a bad sprain. A great contest was beginning to take shape here and it would have been a fascinating match had it gone it's full time-limit. Result: No Contest.

Final Contest : Pro-Style 3 Way Match:
Stephanie Scope v Minx v Black Widow

The final match of an enthralling afternoon's entertainment was a 3 way pro-style contest. It was going to be interesting to see how this bout would develop, with the 3 "heels" from their respective, previous, matches coming together against one another. A pattern began to emerge, whereby Stephanie and Black Widow would "gang- up" 2 on 1 against Minx. Some spectacular moves including, a piledriver from Black Widow at one point - went unseen by the referee. Minx was thrown from the ring on more than one occasion by the other girls and spent a period of time dazed and it appeared, reluctant to continue......Cunningly, she allowed her two adversaries to continue the battle but, was wary that just one pin from either girl would secure a victory. Urged on by the crowd, Minx seized her opportunity as Stephanie and Black Widow were almost out on their feet, to secure a winning pin over Black Widow. Result: Winner - Minx.

Summary:

It was an absolute pleasure to have witnessed such a memorable occasion and on behalf of myself and every other person who attended the event, a BIG THANK YOU to all of the girls who took part. Every lady who performed today can be proud of their enthusiasm, energy and efforts as each brought their own individual style and technique to the show. An impressive debut in this venue from new girls : Stephanie Scope, Charisma and Minx and a warm welcome back to Awesome Anne.

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO PIPPA, AN INCREDIBLE WRESTLER AND, AS A HOST, AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL.
