Amber Holly has been named the Rookie of the Year by the Pro Girls Wrestling Association. Amber first debuted in the PGWA late in 1999 at the "Eye of the Storm" live show, and also appeared at "Slammin' Spring Fling" in April of this year. In the year since her debut, Amber has continued to ply her trade in the sport, working regularly and steadily improving herself. She has proven herself to be unafraid to take on a challenge, as witnessed by the 5'8", 145 lb. blonde's willingness to face the likes of LeiLani Kai, Strawberry Fields, and Riptide in the ring. 2000 has proven to be a stellar year for rookies in pro wrestling, and this was not a quick or easy decision to make. Throughout the year, Amber had kept herself strongly in the running for the Rookie of the Year honor, but it has been events in just the past few weeks which cemented her victory. Just weeks ago, she stunned the wrestling world by cleanly beating PGWA Champion Riptide in a non-title match. Then, just days later, she gave the wily LeiLani Kai a run for her money in an impressive match. These two victories...the former incontestable, the latter truly a moral triumph...finally convinced PGWA officials that Amber Holly has what it takes to not only succeed in professional wrestling, but also to become a major figure in the sport! The award presentation was made on Saturday, December 16th at a NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling card in Salisbury, North Carolina. Congratulations to Amber on being named the Rookie of the Year! |
