At long last, these two meet in a rematch! Nine months earlier, Susan had beaten Josie for her Tennessee State Women’s Championship, and the former champ was spoiling for a return bout. However…Morton refused to put the belt on the line this time! Was it, as she claimed, because Josie wasn’t “worthy” of a title shot, or was it really a case of fear? Whatever the reason, Josie knew going into this that if she didn’t win, she’d never be able to demand an actual title match again. Even before the bell rings, the two rivals engage in a bit of one-upmanship in their formal introductions. But with the start of the match, the time for playing around is over, and they two wrestlers trade moves. The contest is fairly evenly-balanced…at least until Susan decides to throw the rulebook out, that is. Choking and other illegal moves do their damage to Josie, and it’s all the Chicagoan can do to avoid several pinfall attempts, raising a shoulder even as the referee brings his hand down for the third and final time. To the delight of the crowd, Josie roars back, and soon it’s Morton who is in trouble! But she, too, manages to foil attempts to keep her down for the 1-2-3. The battle grows wilder and wilder as the two wrestlers alternate roughhouse tactics with technical maneuvers. Finally, it appears that one woman has victory in hand…or does she? Who wins this one?
